A Research or Instructional laboratory (defined as above), may contain hazards that must be properly managed in order to minimize risk to health, safety, and the environment. These hazards include exposure to hazardous substances (e.g., chemicals and biological materials) and physical hazards associated with chemicals, electrical, equipment, and instruments used by laboratory personnel.
